What Stuck Out

During week 4, we explored sound and what the children could hear in the environment around them. A lot of the children wanted to explore the sounds that they could make themselves with their mouths as well as with their toys. Together, we compiled a collection of sounds and I was able to make a song out of them to share.
Week 5 was all about what the children could imagine and add to the world around them. Many of the children added their loved ones as well as the games they love playing on the playground. The combined pieces built a mosaic of all the children’s favourite things, including toys, animals and people.
This showed me the things that stuck out to the children in their environment, from the things that mean a lot to them and the things that they seem to miss from elsewhere, be it their family, or their favourite games and toys. It can effectively inform us on how we can make the places that children inhabit better for them to be in.
