Throughout the installation, traces of children’s thinking are printed on transparent acetate. The images are both there and not there—changing with the street, the light, and what sits behind them. Visitors are invited to pick up different surfaces and place them behind the transparencies, bringing certain marks and details into view. Looking becomes an active process: shift your position, change the background, stay a little longer. What else becomes visible?

Nearby, large plexiglass surfaces extend one of the materials children used throughout Artasia. If acetate allowed children to trace their worlds at one scale, plexiglass allows us to continue that exploration together at another. Visitors of all ages are invited to leave their own marks with paint sticks, adding what they notice, remember, or imagine to an evolving collective work.

These are not simply records of what children made. They are traces of how children encountered their neighbourhoods—and of what became visible when we paid attention alongside them.
