Imagining week, we made art of what we think would make our experience living  in the city better for us, art was made of friends spending time at the beach with crowns on their head, one artist drew her and her cousins and even me at the beach spending a lovely day together, this group had a lot of talk about pizza and ice cream and it was unanimous that that is what we want to see in our city, one artist drew a pizza + ice cream + hotdog shop that he was working at and I helped pick which ice cream flavours to add, I was very impressed by the stock within this shop and how he keeps the ice cream in scoops that don’t melt. Other art pieces were of friends on rollercoasters and more friends spending nice summer days together which is such a lovely thing to imagine having. I collaborated with an artist to draw a live show, with fairies, princesses and dinosaurs eating ice cream in the audience, she taught me how she draws butterflies and added a girl like her on the stage, this group was really one of my favourites from this entire summer and I will be cherishing the art they wanted me to keep for the rest of my life.

Why We Document

Pedagogical Documentation breathes life into Artasia, turning fleeting moments into lasting stories of creativity, resilience, and connection. It’s more than a record—it’s a celebration of the sparks of imagination that light up each child’s eyes, the bravery of parents stepping into new experiences, and the beauty of communities coming together through art. By capturing these moments, we not only honour the voices, dreams, and discoveries of our participants but also weave a narrative that inspires others. Documentation allows us to reflect on the magic we’ve created together, fuels our passion for what’s possible, and ensures that every joyful collaboration, every burst of color, and every heartfelt expression is remembered and cherished. It keeps the spirit of Artasia alive, inspiring us to dream bigger, reach further, and continue making art together.
