During one of the weeks the children were given the opportunity to use acetate as their canvas, many not having ever used this material before or at least in this context. The children connected immediately with this form of art. They spent all their time carefully drawing the things they saw in their class room. Many of the children asked us to come back every week with just this one activity as they liked it so much and wished to do it every day.
This was exactly what I had hoped for with this activity. It reminded me how much the materials themselves can influence the way children engage, experiment, and express their ideas. Introducing materials such as paint markers created new possibilities for exploration and encouraged the children to try different ways of making and creating. I hope that children in this program continue to have access to a wide range of materials that support their curiosity and inspire their creativity.

Why We Document
Pedagogical Documentation breathes life into Artasia, turning fleeting moments into lasting stories of creativity, resilience, and connection. It’s more than a record—it’s a celebration of the sparks of imagination that light up each child’s eyes, the bravery of parents stepping into new experiences, and the beauty of communities coming together through art. By capturing these moments, we not only honour the voices, dreams, and discoveries of our participants but also weave a narrative that inspires others. Documentation allows us to reflect on the magic we’ve created together, fuels our passion for what’s possible, and ensures that every joyful collaboration, every burst of color, and every heartfelt expression is remembered and cherished. It keeps the spirit of Artasia alive, inspiring us to dream bigger, reach further, and continue making art together.
