Today’s Family – CH Norton
C.H. Norton Public School 2120 Cleaver Ave, Burlington L7M 4B6
CH Norton was a site I had the honour to return back to for a second year of Artasia. Since I was able to visit the site once again, I was able to see not only familiar educator faces, but students as well. Each group I worked with was full of lots of energy and talented young kinder students. There were many moments during my time at CH Norton I really treasured as an educator and I was really grateful for all the helpful staff along the way!
The first week with the texture passports was a fun experience for the children. Many kids were able to find interesting textures even if the room wasn’t super filled with various items. It was really fascinating seeing the kids work within their space, and find different textures to things I didn’t even think of. Many of them explored different toys, and some found a cart to use as well.
The week of sight was really fascinating seeing how the kids were able to really explore throughout their classroom for things to draw. One student created a beautiful drawing of the tree in their classroom and another would be drawing a minion artwork on the wall. One student looked at the photos in her classroom and drew her friend from the photo, it was very articulated. Seeing how the kids came up with ideas of what to draw was enjoyable to see how well they grasped the concept of ‘taking a photo’ through their artwork.
The students also were very engaged on the week of sound. Many students had their own sounds they wanted to create and found so many different objects and ways to produce various sounds. They also were very engaged into listening and guessing what the sounds are. That week specifically felt very successful as I was able to see a very creative side to all of them when it came to sound and how the engage and process what a sound is.
CH Norton was filled with so much creativity and it was wonderful being able to visit once again!

Why We Document
Pedagogical Documentation breathes life into Artasia, turning fleeting moments into lasting stories of creativity, resilience, and connection. It’s more than a record—it’s a celebration of the sparks of imagination that light up each child’s eyes, the bravery of parents stepping into new experiences, and the beauty of communities coming together through art. By capturing these moments, we not only honour the voices, dreams, and discoveries of our participants but also weave a narrative that inspires others. Documentation allows us to reflect on the magic we’ve created together, fuels our passion for what’s possible, and ensures that every joyful collaboration, every burst of color, and every heartfelt expression is remembered and cherished. It keeps the spirit of Artasia alive, inspiring us to dream bigger, reach further, and continue making art together.
