Encouraging Creativity
There was a very shy child who was creating work in week 5. This child seemed to love art, they were very reluctant to involve their work in the group mosaic so I went to go talk to them to see their work before I left. They were drawing and I asked “is that a poodle?” And the child’s face lit up. They felt so encouraged by that, that they added their work to the group activity!Â
To me this helped illustrate that all of the children express themselves in many different ways. Not all children want to show their art off, but that doesn’t mean they are not proud of the work. Also on the theme of relationships, sometimes we need a little encouragement from friends or people we look up to just to put ourselves out there and build up the courage to show something off that we are proud of!
