Techniques in Blue
I am documenting a creative experience where children explored the theme of Relationship through a mixed media art project focused on the colour blue. Children enjoyed creating individual artwork and the chance to experiment with different materials and express their unique ideas through different shades of blue and mark-making.
This project gave all the children a chance to explore different mediums and techniques in their own way. It was interesting to see what each individual child was going to create and how they were going to work with the tools. Some children were very experimental with the materials by trying each one individually and layering well some children used one drawing tool.Â
While mixing the paints to create a variety of hues, the children were fascinated by how the colours blended and changed. Some children noticed that darker mixtures created deeper shades, while lighter ones gave a transparent effect, so the children would add more to their watercolour paper. It was interesting to see how they explored these materials and how they would transform their work with these techniques.Â
