Finding the magic in art: Working with bleeding tissue paper!
The week four: ENERGY activity at St. Matthew involved bleeding tissue paper and different materials to apply water (paint brushes, sponges, and spray bottles). This group of children found the activity extremely insightful and interesting, as the process of the bleeding tissue paper seemed of much interest to them. We were able to transfer vibrant colours to our watercolour paper while mixing them and blending them. During the activity, one child exclaimed, “you are like a magic teacher! This is my favourite kind of art!”
This moment was especially memorable as this child was able to further explore a medium that they truly enjoyed. It was amazing to see that this young person showed such interest in the week four: ENERGY activity and immediately made me think of how, in my education over the years, I was also able to explore different mediums and find my favourite. This moment in the programming showed me the process of a young artist finding what they love and enjoy, just as I did when I was that age!
