Experimenting with Spin Art!
Week four: ENERGY at St. Francis Xavier school was full of experimentation, trial and error, and fun! This week I decided to create stations for the children to try: one using bleeding tissue paper and spray bottles, and the other using salad spinners, acrylic paint, and watercolour paper. The children were particularly drawn to the salad spinner art and used their energy in different ways to create splatter prints!Â
One particular child this week at St. Francis made multiple square tiles of splatter art and decided to experiment with different techniques to get different results.
This specific child who experimented with different techniques of paint dripping and spinning was eager to share their ideas and experiments! The child put their multiple creations to dry and explained to me how they were done, what was successful, and what was not, and this was amazing to see as this child was so young! They explained, “Miss. Abby! This one worked well because I dripped the paint in small amounts but multiple times!” To see the wheels turning in this child’s head was so cool to see as a new Artasia educator this summer, and these kinds of things are what the program is all about!
