What does this one look like?
At Heritage Greens EarlyON everyone was excited to use the colour blue! In our final week of programming we created a mural together using only two shades of blue and white. Many children were interested in placing their pieces on the wall but there was one child who spent nearly all his time in the earlyon at the table creating. This young boy was very intrigued by how many different paint sticks, crayons and oil pastels there were to choose from. He spent over 30 minutes trying almost every material I brought that day even though many of them were the same. It was so amazing to see the way he would inspect each item to see how he could use it and how it might be different or the same as the others. I think that this is important and matters because it shows his incredible interest in exploration through colour, texture, size of material. It shows how he is curious about the different ways to use the materials and the different shades of blue of how they can mix to create new ones. His inquiry and exploration were incredibly heartwarming to see and I thought this was such a wonderful opportunity to explore even more, He kept making more and more tiles as well as layering the colors over and over, so as he created switching out his materials I prompted him to try and use every single one and he was so happy to take each item and see what he could do with it. I asked him what he thought of each of the materials I handed to him and although he couldn’t fully speak he would hold up his material or tile and smile brightly at me then reach for a new one to try out.
