Post Painting Circle
After one of my art sessions, I sat with the children and taught them the circle game Stella Ella Ola. It was the first time all the children heard about the game and we spent the remaining time learning how to play, memorizing the song and figuring out how to keep the rhythm of the game.Â
This moment allowed the children to work in a group to create a fun game that can be modified for any size of group. It let the children still be engaged with each other during our time slot even when the activity had to end early. They also spent time reinforcing motor skills.
The circle game allowed the children to explore movement, storytelling and music making. They got to move together to create a beat and tell the story the song creates. They’ll be able to take the game into the future and form bonds with potential friends and classmates as they repeat what they were able to learn.Â
