Fort of Colour
During our web of colour activity, some of the children decided to turn their web into a fort. They would decorate the lower strings in some places while leaving others free so they could sit under everything. They started going back and forth between the web of colour fort and a fort they set up earlier in the summer. They had a blast figuring out how the light reflected on the decorations and creating a web that acted more as a hangout spot away from the adults.Â
The web of colour activity was the one that had the most participation from the group. They spent the entire time adding and adjusting their fort. The kids worked as a team to make something they could all enjoy while still having little pieces of themselves included.
The activity allowed the children to express themselves through sculpture, building and observation. Looking to see what did and didn’t work. Creating symbols and shapes to leave their mark on the fort. It allowed them to create a space that was all their own.
