Practicing Thoughtfulness One Craft at a Time!
The Kindergarteners at Jamesville Bennetto are all curious, energetic, and passionate children. What we didn’t know was that their passion also extended to love and gratitude, in the simplest and most innocent ways possible. Throughout our time together, it was notable that many of the kinders’ projects were specially dedicated to their parents or siblings. One student in particular, would tell me each week, “This is for my sister. She likes pink and girlie stuff,” or “This is my mom’s favorite food and the plate is her favorite color.” This thoughtfulness also extended to inanimate objects like plushies, and pets. Some of the girls would make small little coats and hats out of felt for their plushies, or dogs to keep them warm in the wintertime. It was a heartwarming experience, to have the chance to see the love and sincerity that guided their unique creations and fostered a natural environment of kindness and positivity.Â
