Flora and Fauna

Femmes du Feu (Welland, ON)

Thursday, October 27, 2022

11am and 2pm
McQuesten Neighbourhood, Hamilton

Following the success of TWEET TWEET!, Flora & Fauna is a new early years creation exploring themes of relationship and nature. Flora & Fauna is an invitation for the audience to let the magical forest come and greet them in this performative forest walk. Flora & Fauna is part installation, part performance, to create a rich outdoor performing arts experience for young audiences and their caregivers. This show is created to be presented outdoors, on a variety of terrains in summer or winter. We aim to produce an immersive contemporary circus show that can be presented in various outdoor settings that will counter “nature-deficit disorder” (terms by Richard Louv).

Arts For All acknowledges the traditional territories of the Erie, Neutral, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee and Mississaugas. This land is covered by the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, which was an agreement between the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabek to share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes. The City of Hamilton has developed an Urban Indigenous Strategy that will strengthen the City’s relationship with the Indigenous community and help promote a better understanding among all residents about Indigenous histories, cultures, experiences and contributions.
