Culture for Kids in the Arts’ (CKA) Board of Directors will be hosting its inaugural signature event, Art Escape, on Saturday, October 14th at the iconic Hamilton Conservatory for the Arts, located on James Street South.

Themed to deliver a ritzy experience to Getaway for Good, Art Escape will include an impressive silent art auction, a pop-up escape room as well as splendid tapas from The Other Bird, all delivered with a hint of 1920s charm.

It’s sure to be the cat’s meow.

Hosted within the Conservatory Recital Hall, ticket-holders will gain access to the speakeasy space, overlaid with nifty lounge areas, hors d’oeuvres and a juice joint (serving beer and wine). Attendees will also enjoy a musical performance by the Jay Kipps Band, who promise something between bluegrass and blues, creating sound that is unmistakably unique.

Though the theme plays on the perception of exclusivity, Art Escape represents the exact opposite. “Our inaugural signature event is all about defying social norms and the ideology that art is something reserved for the wealthy or privileged. Art Escape in it of itself is an act of breaking the glass ceiling, providing access to all,” says Vitek Wincza, Executive/Artistic Director of Culture for Kids in the Arts.

Proceeds from the event will directly support Culture for Kids in the Arts and its mission to bring the arts community-wide, creating accessibility so that all children and youth have an opportunity to participate.

“Moving through the motions of daily life, we sometimes find ourselves forgetting—or neglecting to give attention to—the importance of art, creativity and mindfulness. Art Escape aims to reignite attendees own personal sense of creativity and passion for the arts, all the while raising funds in support of arts programming for children throughout Hamilton and the surrounding region,” says Vasiliki Papadopoulos, Board Chair of Culture for Kids in the Arts.

This event has been made possible by Culture for Kids in the Arts’ supporters: Collective Arts Brewing, The Other Bird and the Hamilton Conservatory for the Arts. The silent art auction would not be possible without the generous support of the following artists: Richard Mace, Tom Wilson, Nancy Benoy, Amber Aasman, Lesley Cordero, Becky Katz, Janice Kovar, Trevor Stooke, Vasie Papadopoulos, Keith Kacsuta, Cornelia Peckart, Harold Sikkema, Alex Taves, Ted Basciano, Carol Basciano, Sylvia Simpson, Mike Kukusczka, Dave Kuruc, Paul Elia and Dave Oakley.
